Event Details

Learn about a fiery chapter in Pendleton's local history. Dr. Susanna Ashton from Clemson University will discuss an 1849 post office raid to seize antislavery pamphlets and the subsequent bonfire on the village green by a group of white supremacists. Learn how this event happened, who was involved, and why it's relevant today.
