Program Description

Event Details

Let's kick off Summer Reading with a party! Join us for a morning of fun, focused around our Summer Reading theme, "All Together Now." Local heroes will be on-site, including the Anderson Police Department, Anderson Fire Department, and Medshore Ambulance Services to talk about how they protect the community and give parents tips on how to keep their kids safe this summer. Adults will be able to register their children in the Ident-a-Kid program, which helps identify children who get lost or go missing, while older kids will get the chance to learn about fire safety in a "burn trailer." Participating children will each get a firefighter's hat and a coloring book, while supplies last.

For the younger kiddos, there will be a special storytime of Buttons and Zippers from author/illustrator team Leigh Ann Buckner and Mary McAlister. Leigh and Mary will be selling copies of their book at this event. AnMed Doclink will host a bicycle safety "bike rodeo" and helmet fitting for kids outside. Kona Ice and PAWS Animal Shelter will be outside too. Also, don't miss out on plenty of fun arts & crafts projects, plus plenty of other fun activities for all ages!
